Contemporary Choices

Powell and Family are proud to offer a wide range of Natural Death options. We are the only funeral directors in Worcestershire recommended by the Natural Death Centre.

Green Burial

Some families find inspiration and comfort in a natural setting such as a Woodland Burial Site.

You can select an exclusive grave or ashes interment plot from a range of locations within each burial ground, all fully managed to maintain a beautiful, ecologically diverse place of reflection and remembrance in an informal style.

This means there will be no permanent memorial within the woodland to mark the specific location of burial plots, although engraved wooden markers and commemorative trees are usually offered.

We can advise you about the Natural Burial Sites within the region along with the range of coffins, caskets and urns that they will accept.

Burial in Water

Many families have shared special memories by or on water, and so committing a loved one’s ashes to a favourite spot may be the perfect closure ritual for them.

Remembrance then becomes a natural part of any pleasure trip to these locations, and knowing that a loved one is resting somewhere they enjoyed in life can offer families great comfort.

We can offer a range of attractive, biodegradable urns suitable for placing cremated remains in lakes or at sea, as well as a more traditional scattering service.

We can even arrange boat charters, transport and catering for the dignified placement of urns or ashes at your chosen location.

Please speak to our staff at our head office on 01274 567110 if you would like more information about traditional burial at sea.

As the above funeral options exclude on-site, permanent memorials we find that families seek out personal memorial items for daily remembrance. Powell & Family have a carefully selected range which you can browse via our Tributes and Memorials pages.

Other Choices

Many families are now seeking a much more individual approach to funerals and remembrance, a trend we support as the more personal each “goodbye” becomes, the more comfort it gives to those left behind.

The following innovations have grown in popularity over recent years:

  • Ashes into diamonds;
  • Firework scattering;
  • Keepsake Jewellery;
  • Ashes in Glass & Resin;
  • Memorial frames & mementos;

New ideas usually evolve directly from family requests… so naturally we begin by listening to you

Our Tributes and Memorials page features a small selection of beautiful and inspiring items which you can browse at your leisure.

We sincerely hope that you find a comforting keepsake or treasured reminder of your loved one here
